There are nearly 36 million slaves in the world. Slaves are mostly located in Asia and Africa. The country where there is the most slavery is Mauritania. Slaves are used to bounded labour, carry heavy objects, they can be in human trafficking or get married at a very young age.

Why are we talking about this subject ?

We want to speak about slavery like places because not a lot of people really know about slavery and countries where it can happen, there are a lot of people who must work in bad conditions and they don’t even earn any money.

What comparison can be made with modern slavery ?

The old slavery was accepted by the population and anyone knew and saw this.

Now, modern slavery is hidden and countries don’t want that people know what they are doing because it gives a bad image of them. There are laws which should protect citizen but they aren’t respected and applied.

Where does it happen ?

Most slaves are in Asia because they want to develop the cities and they need people who build for them. There are also slaves in Africa and for the same reasons. What can be done ? The governments must give tougher sentences for the people who makes traffic and don’t respect humans beings.

This is people who must work a lot because there is another person who is blackmailing them. For example, the chef has their passports so they can’t leave the place. They have bad living conditions and if they make a mistake, they’ll be punished by the “master”. There are many kinds of slavery.

Introduction:

There are nearly 36 million slaves in the world. Slaves are mostly located in Asia

and Africa. We want to speak about slavery like places because there is not a lot of people who really know about slavery and countries where it happens. Slaves must work in bad conditions and they don’t earn any money.

Where is there slavery ?

In 2014 there were 167 countries where there was slavery and 5 countries own

almost 61% of the slaves. The place where there are the most slaves is in India

(14.3M), China (3.2M), Pakistan (2.1M), Uzbekistan (1.2M) and Russia (1M). The old slavery was accepted by the population and anyone knew and saw this. It was common to see slaves. Now modern slavery is hidden, and countries don’t want people to know what they are doing because it gives a bad image of them. There are laws which should protect citizen, but they aren’t respected and applied.

Why are there slaves ?

The population is often vulnerable in countries where government don’t react when people don’t respect the rules. It can happen in all countries but it is in the developing countries that there are most slaves because the security isn’t well organized. Police can’t always react when somebody doesn’t respect the laws because they aren’t enough policeman and a lot of them are corrupted. There are contractors who want to produce more and to gain more money. That’s why they have own slaves, so they don’t have to pay them for their work. For example, they have the passport of somebody so he can’t leave the country. Leaders force people to work for them with blackmailing especially with refugees. They don’t leave freedom to the slaves and they punish them when they do mistakes.
