Dear Mr.Smith,

I am writing to discuss this year's Charleston Highschool's prom and about all the other proms to come after this one, for that matter. I am aware you already politely refused the offer of my client, Mr. Morgan Freeman, over the phone some time ago but I'm afraid I can't fight the urge to insist once again. So on Mr. Freeman's behalf, but also mine, and, I believe, on the behalf of every sane person with common sense: please consider having an integrated prom.

First, I can't stress this enough: the simple idea of a segregated prom is an indignity for the state of Mississipi, this country, and even the world. At the time we live in and after this country's race history, having anything segregated is treason to everyone who fought and still fight for equality. I hope it's in your right mind to think that It simply shouldn't be a thing.

Then, on a much lighter note, I'd like to mention the benefits to your fellow students, for which the prom is destined. Indeed, my client's offer still stands: he's ready to fund the whole prom. He'll pay not only the initial budget you planned but also more than just a little extra, depending on what the student prom committee wants or decides. A way for the students to enjoy their graduation memorably. The other benefit is obvious but still worth bringing up: all the students will be together. They study the same classes, hand out the same assignments, hang out and have fun, altogether all year long so why separate them at that particular time? I'm sure the students, no matter their race, are friends (or even dating, from what I heard). I even heard there's an interracial couple, which is beautiful. They should all be able to party together on such an important night. Having an integrated prom is what your seniors wish for and what's best for them.

Finally, I'd like to speak about what seems to be the main problem to organize an integrated prom: the parents. My client told me you explained that the problem wasn't you or the students but their parents. I totally see how some of them can be against it and be an issue. However, as the principal of this high school, you should have the final say in this, not them. By imposing this potential decision, you could change their views for the better and stop letting happening what should never happen. It would be a hugely positive progression for your community, a way to progress to a reality where everyone gets along, where nobody mistrusts anybody. Please consider it, we can make a step in the right direction for Charleston's high school, the state of Mississippi, and even the respect of human rights worldwide.

You can make a difference.

Sincerely yours,

Morgan Freeman's agent.
