Places and formes of power

Well, then let me consider the following notion places and forms of power.

First let me try and give a simple definition of this notion. A place is could be important buildings or institutions that represent a certain form of power, a place can also be a country or a state.

A Power is the ability to control others, events, or resources; the ability to make things happen despite obstacles, resistance, or opposition. This of course leads to conflict between those who have power and those who don’t.

I'd like to illustrate this notion through an interesting topic, namely the impact shocking images circuling in the media.

Thus we may wonder if the images have a stronger and lasting impact over time than?

Trough the various documents study in class such as photo, text. Like "the naked truth".

My presentation will fall into 2 parts :

In a first part, I will focus on the photographers who work for the media

My second part I will analyse the impact of images transmitted by the media.

For us the media are like an intermediary, located between an event and the audience, conveying a message. So we think them objective and consequently they seem little influencable and one is more able to be influenced by these media. Moreover knowing that they are busy sending us the messages one can ask if they do not hide part of the world to us?

In The  cartoon who was publish at the time of the 1991 Gulf War, when thousands of Us troopers were engaged in the short conflict against Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussien.

This proves that the media does not broadcast all the information, that it selects it, and that there is a smoke screen. But this choice made by the media can be dangerous because they do not dictate to people what is needed but what to think.

Nowadays, it is clear that images have a much greater impact and more emotional than words. For images reveal truths, they can prevent, shock or denounce.

For example, the photo that was taken in Vietnam in the document "The Naked Truth", it allows to denounce, and inform other populations of the Vietnam war. The photo of the young "Tibetan monk" burning in the middle of the population, is a picture that will be diffused to shock people, reach them emotionally.

Moreover, in today's society, images are diffused throughout the world according to the social networks, at an incredible speed.

So we can say that yes the images can have influences, an impact on the population while the words can be forgotten.
