Idea of progress

Well, in a first time, I’m going to define the notion "idea of progress". This

notion can be defined as an improvement, a development or a change, a technical, scientific or social advance which contributes to making the world a better place. For instance, it can implies scientific progress, technological progress, and even social evolution. By analysing this notion "the idea of progress", we will try to answer the following question: Is progress something always good?

Now, I am going to develop the three more important sources of progress.

First, the scientific progress can be mentioned. Well, the medical

evolution might be considered as totally crazy ! For instance, since the war, and with the war, we find drugs about AIDS, Parkinson, or other diseases. With those wars, surgery was developed and allow to people to be cured. Today, scientists also try the heart graft but it’s not an official solution about heart problems. There, we can see that scientist progress can be a good thing but we have to mentioned the bad way, that is to say that sometimes medical progress could embarrassed the patient.

Then, the technical progress is very important too. So there, we

can develop ideas about robotics way. For example, the robot's creation allowed a lot of things and consequently, it’s a positive progress. Indeed, the aim of these robots is to help people who can’t do some task, due to age, physical or health problems. Finally, the technical progress is something which can be sometimes negative because those robots took the job of some employee who now, have difficulties to make both ends meet. Moreover, the technical progress allowed the creation of Internet but the result of Internet should be balanced because it enables to the researchers best research but Internet's danger are omnipresent in our life with the danger of piracy.

The final idea deals with social progress. It is more complicated to develop

this kind of progress but it is one of the more important. In fact, in the past some parents expected girls to marry members of family or neighbour's son even if they were older than the girl. Indeed, in India it is steel a tradition to have arranged marriages and daughters are married off. We can see that way that progress

doesn't evolve in the same way, at the same time, all around the world. People with a poor background are often discriminated against by the people who can enjoy the benefit of progress.

To conclude, they are different kinds of progress. Some of them can be only

good things but in different ways if the human doesn’t control his creation, the

human’s life end is going to appear. In fifty years, if we follow this way of life, the world is going to disappear.
