Intro :

>l'm going to introduce the notion myths and heros.

First we have to define the words heros and  myth, which is different of the word legend.

>A hero is someone who is real of fictional. Hero may come from legends or from our everyday life.

>Therefore, a myth is a story which is fantastic, with supernatural being, or things, and imaginary actions while, a legend is a supernatural story which based one true fact but which has been transformed with eras, and people.

>In this notion we tried to understand why New Orleans is a strange but interesting city.

To answer this question, i will present documents about Marie Laveau, Mme Lalaurie, the axeman, and NO.

>The  song of Bobby Bare, is about Marie Laveau. The author drew our attention to the fact that Marie Laveau was an ugly voodoo women. He told us that she made magic potions, and  used spells to kill people. In opposition, the extract of an American Horror Stories, show us that Marie Laveau was a pretty witch who killed the murders of a black boy. She used voodoo to revenge, and made justice. The story is a myth because witches doesn't and didn't exist but we have too different versions of the story, the character is described like a hero and anti heroes, so people have maybe interpret the story.

>The second character who is describe on an extract from the flap page of book is Mme Lalaurie, she was a wealthy society matron and she was accused of slave torturer, and the extract of AHS shows us that Mme Lalaurie was a cruel person without mercy.  After a fire broke out, people discovered that she mutilated slaves in her attic. it's a legend because there are probably real facts but the truth is often distorted by people and the media who tends to increase the sensationalist dimension of news.

>The thierd character is the Axeman who is present in a letter, which wrote by himself, and was addressed to new Orleanians. He describes himself as "a spirit", "a demon" and he claims to be "a invisible entity"  He intends to kill persons who don't listening or playing jazz music by going back to new Orleans. We don't really know if it really happened, but we know that this murdered existed so it's a legend, the acts are partially true, but maybe they were distorted.

Mme Lalaurie and the Axeman was maybe real person in opposition to Marie Laveau., and both of them were cruel persons who kill for theirs pleasure.

NO is present in a document where we can understand that it's a very touristic city with a beautiful architecture, history and culture. NO is strange because of, all of the legends and myth which based on this city, but it because of this too, that it's attractive city, people like to listen this sort of stories, and the city is very interesting rich and mysterious.

I really enjoyed working on this notion because I thing myths and legends entertain our life. Thanks to them we can dream, we can escape us of our world and imagine another universe. But it can be scary for some of us, and we can forget that it's just legends or myths, that it's not the truth.
