Firstly i will talk about myths in greek mythology
The myth of Pyramus and Thisbe, who speak about eternal and the 2 lovers killthemselves because they can’t live without the other.
Or the myth of Aphrodite and Adonis to explain the circle of life.
Or finally the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice : One day, Eurydice die because of a viper. But orpheus don’t respect that and his wife disappeared.
These myths have a great infulence on people over the centuries, they confirmed their beliefs. Let’s turn to my second point.
To speak about importance of these myths i will take some example.
In our society the question of eternal youth is very present , we can see it with all avertising, now it’s a selling argument, we put in the mind of people that they have and they can be younger, people today don’t want to make old.
An article written in the Observer in 2007 speak about eternal youth. More than a myth eternal youth can be real with the progress of technology and science. The article underlines the fact that life expectancy goes on rising and for that we found a lot of a means, extreme dieting, healthy acitivities, plastic surgery etc…
An other question remain in our society, is the question of love. In the play Romeo and Juliet, written by Shakespear in the 16th century. It tells the story of the Romeo and Juliet who are in love, but their love is impossible because thier families are ennemies. And today this problem still, for other resaons but it remain. In Asia and particularly in India, people cannot be married because the family are not comming from the same social caste. We can mention the movie Devdas for exemple. Myth also explain a social reality.
Sometimes progress is a myth, the myth of progress and a lot of people fought for this. We can consider these people like heroes
So thirdly let’s talk about these Heroes.
We speak eternal love and youth, but there is others social reality.
