The origin of the volcanism that feeds The Mount Etna is still discussed and could be generated either by the presence of a hot spot, a hot spots are volcanic regions which are fed by underlying mantle that is anomalously hot compared with the surrounding mantle. Or The Mount Etna could be generated by the subduction of the African plate below the Eurasian plate.

The Mount Etna is an active stratovolcano, a composite volcano, it means that it is a conical volcano built up by many layers of hardened lava and volcanic ash. The magma forming this lava is  having a high levels of silica. It is the tallest active volcano in Europe, it is currently three thousand three hundred twenty nine meters high.

Few years ago the volcano made explosive eruption, it appenhed because the gas was dissolved under pressure within a viscous magma such that expelled lava violently into volcanic ash when pressure become suddently lower. But now the volcano makes effusif eruption, it means that lava flows regularly from the volcano to the ground.
