Land of Adventure

Introduction

I decided to focus my assignment on something which is very important for me: Traveling.

I chose the company “Terre d’Aventure”, which means “Land of Adventure”. Therefore I’ll try to match the creation of this company with the Blue Ocean Strategy that we learned in class.

The factors connected to the success of a company are many, and I am going to try, through the strategic management formula, to present the best recipes of the success of a company such as: “Terre d’Aventure” where we are? Where do we want to go? How will we get there?

1. Where are we?

We are in 2010 and I’m actually working in France with the company “Thomas Cook”, it’s a travel agency with a good notoriety. This travel agency offers to its customer travel especially in Europe and sometimes in America. The kind of travel is simple and always the same, the company remains on its principles. Indeed, the travel is usually based on cruising or club-hotel. It’s cheap travel but calm and resting. Indeed, most of travels with Thomas Cook are to spend the time around the swimming pool, near the see and in restaurant. It’s the perfect holidays to rest and benefit from the good weather.

Actually, I do two jobs in my company. The first one is to work in the office in Paris. I welcome customers, I help them to find the perfect travel and finally I book them for their travel. It’s great to do this job because I enjoy social contact and when I am offering holidays to customer, its make me dreaming about travel.

My second work is to test hotels and cruising. Indeed, before have a partnership with a hotel, a club hotel, or a cruising, we must try everything. For example my last test was in Spain. During 5 days, I went to Barcelona, to try a new hotel to know if it was enough good to work with and to offer its performances to our customers. It’s the same thing with cruising, sometimes (twice a month), I try a new cruising. But we have a very high level and we are not always agreeing to make partnership.

It’s a good work to test hotel and cruising, we feel in holidays even when we are working. What’s a good job.

I have no husband for the moment and no children so it’s still the time for me to have a job which make me traveling around the world, I enjoy that.

Unfortunately, for few months, I am thinking about my job. I think that I’m bored because of it. I’d like to do new thing, new travel and have a new way of work.

Therefore, I have been thinking for a while and I found the most important, I wanted to change my work.

2. Where do we want to go?

Obviously, I’ll change my job for nothing in the world. But I have to admit that I’m getting bored. And you know why? Because of Thomas Cook’ travels. Indeed, I’m tired of this kind of travel, with cruising or club-hotel; I’d like to change the ways to travel.

I’d like to see new kind of travel, based on trekking, in exotic countries, which are changing from destinations of the moment, different ways to travel. I would like sports holidays and which allow us to meet local population, to know how they are living and how they are. I simply like to
