  • From its creation, it took three years to Instagram to reach the hundred million users and after the takeover by Facebook in 2012, it has increased by one hundred or two hundred million a year.

In 2018, there are more than one billion users in the world.

70% of them are outside the US

59% of the subscribers use Instagram every day.

There are about 70 million publications shared a day.

The users are mostly young, it’s like 53% are between 18 and 29 years old.

  • After Facebook, Instagram is the second social network most used in the world and its turnover amounts to 5.4 billion dollars in 2017

  • As you certainly know, Instagram is an app, a social network, which allows pictures and videos sharing services. It allows to post publications about several subjects. There are selfies, beauty posts, fashion posts, food posts, and many others…

For each publication you can adjust your picture and add a description. Instagram users often use hashtags referring to their post.

  • Over and above be able to post publications in their profile, the Instagram users can also publish stories. These pictures or videos are just apparent for 24 hours and after they disappear. This is very practice because you can choose publications which are important to you, so you post it in your Instagram account and if you just want to share something for a few moments, you can put it in your “story”.

It is also possible to do a live story, so all your friends can see you in live.

You can use some video effects like boomerang, slow motion, superzoom or rewind.

  • You can also chat with your friends with the direct messages by sending pictures, videos or simple texts: so, it’s a very fast way to communicate. And it is also possible to do video calls.

  • Instagram is also partly known for its many influencers. These influencers are celebrities or people with many followers, like youtubers and bloggers for example. They publish lots of pictures and are sponsored by some brands.
  • It’s possible to have a professional profile on Instagram. This allows access to statistics about your Instagram profile and your publications and it is possible to promote your publications and boost their popularity.
  • Recently, Instagram has improved the stories: you can now do polls and also ask questions to the people you are following.
