The idea of progress can be defined as an improvement. a development or a change, a technical, scientific or social advance which contributes to making the world a better place. We will wonder if technological advances have improved our lives. First, let's see how new technologies have positively changed the world today. In a second step, we will see that progress can have a negative side.

Progress is already improving people's living conditions, it helps to change people's habits and attitudes. The most popular and striking progress is obviously the new means of communication with social networks, but also the new means of transport.. Take for example the Internet. It has revolutionized the world, it has changed our lives. Life in society before the internet and after the internet is not the same. With the Internet, we are connected everywhere and all the time. Thanks to new technology and the internet, people can work at home. Today, children can study at home thanks to the Internet and the computer. Another technological advance are the social networks. These new means of communication, such as Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter etc, allow the world to be interconnected. This allows you to receive news quickly. The exchange of information is facilitated. We can also evoke the travels in space that is the fruit of work for progress. Like the technological progress, the social progress has also evaluated and in particular the women's rights, for instance the obtaining the vote for women the fight for equality and the equal pay. Nowadays, with research and progress, we can better preserve the environment.

Progress has the consequences of increasing social inequalities especially between the well-to-go and popular populations, since purchasing power makes it possible to benefit from progress. Progress can cause political tensions to pass laws. Also, people are struggling to adapt to change with progress. Progress has changed attitudes too much. Internet and new devices such as smartphones and tablets have replaced radio, print and television. Young people today are influenced by these technological advances and want to buy them earlier and earlier. Virtuality including virtual friendship with social networks, and virtual love with dating sites have damage to people that can cause mental illness. The world is changing with technology, leading to changes in everyday Iife such as relationships with family. People take advantage of the freedom of speech on social networks to disclose false information but also to insult and provoke violence. Some users, feeling lonely and discriminated against, are pushed through like suicide.

To conclude, I think that progress certainly improves our lives because they meet our needs and make our lives easier. However, we can't say that all the progress has positive effects and this is visible by the technological progress which has negative effects like internet. Personally, I regularly use new technologies. I have several social networks in my smartphone and technological progress has, for me, more advantages than disadvantages. However, we must remain cautious about using these new technologies.
