Greyhound is a dog which comes from Spain. His name in Spain is Galgo. On the base, it's a dog for the hunting in hares but we use it also for the hunting in fox, rabbit and even the wild boar. It's a practically unknown dog but because of atrocious  events, people begin to know them.

There are used for courses and hunting. However the hunting is forbidden in almost countries. In Spain, there are some lobbies to maintain the hunting with greyhouds. It's from there that results the misfortune of these animals. Every year, hunter want to have the best greyhound, the fastest, the one who will bring back most preys and boost there ego with the competitors. There is a wild reproduction to have a large choice by knowing that if a dog is not fast enough it will be pitilessly rejected. There is this selection each year. We feed them hardly, according to a faith which want that the greyhound hunts better the empty stomach. As for the "good" greyhound, the "good hunter", which runs fast, it will be the same after the age of approximately 3 years when it will begin to slow down. The animal is never in the camp of the winners. At the end of the hunting season, at the end of February, it's a moment of terror!! Hunters get rid of greyhouds. They refuse to feed them while waiting for the next season. There are some solutions : they are given up in perreras, sort of disguised old people home's, there are thrown in wells or hung on trees (rather the longest possible, so that the exhausted animal eventually hangs itself, according to the technique of "tocar el piano"). Very fortunate are the ones who which know a fast death by a gunshot for example. Indeed, when the hunting season was bad, the galguero assumes the right "to wash his honor" by torturing its galgo up to the death. Hopefully, there some associations in Europe to save greyhounds. You can adopt dogs and offer them help and assistance. However, it's different. It's not the same that adopting an other dog. You have to take in account his suffering.
