Exposé Anglais : Ecosia

Today i'm gonna talk about the website Ecosia wich has just celebrated its 70 million trees planted.

Ecosia is a free search engine like Google, but converts the number of online searches into planted trees.

So for 45 Internet searches with phone or computer, Ecosia is committed to planting a tree somewhere in the world.

As I said Ecosia is free and fund its actions through advertising.

With millions of users, Ecosia generates a lot of money each month that is almost entirely used for reforestation projects around the world.

Today they have invested more than 9 million euros for reforestation.

There is the map of the main sites where ecosia practices reforestation.

Indonesia is an important place of the ambitious project because the purpose is to propose an alternative to palm oil.

One of my favorite projects is happening in an ancient village of chimpanzee hunters in Uganda, where people are now replanting trees to rebuild the forest of monkeys.

Moreover, in many countries, as in Madagascar, the company plays a social and economic dynamic through the large number of jobs created.

According to my own calculations, many of us use the internet. So, that's a lot of trees to plant.

I would like to talk about Ecosia rather than adding a climate crisis because this site is the perfect example of a simple act that everyone can do to contribute to ecology.

Browsing the Internet is a daily gesture and doesnot need some time or investment.

That's why I think Ecosia is an incredible concept because it's proof that we can live in a digital and connected era but also act for the planet
