Moderator: Today we had the chance to receive the two candidates running for the next presidential election in Albomia. At my right, we have the current incumbent, Mr. Rightaway, and at my left, his challenger, Mr. Leftisit. First, Mr. Rightaway, I would like to ask you why you have decided to run for office one more time, did you find you hadn’t done enough during your past mandate?
Incumbent: May I say I have initiated a lot of changes during my last 4 years in Albomina. The tax reform or the school reform are two examples that made my mandate very efficient. I am running one more time at the presidential office, because I love my country and I want to protect my people.
M: Thank you. Mr. Leftisit, what do you think about Mr. Rightaway’s reforms? Have they been efficient? What do you propose?
Challenger: I am sorry to say this, but it was hogwash. The people don’t trust you anymore, for your reforms have made them poorer than they ever were. The tax reform has benefited the richest. And about schools, you only have privatized them even more. Now civil servants find themselves out of work. My manifesto states loud and clear that we will come to the rescue of the left behinds, by reallocating the resources correctly.
I: It is a good thing to dream. But even if you win the election, you will never have the majority in the chamber. The seats will always be more occupied by those who really are interested in politics, not by you, the leftists.
M: Thank you for your remarks, but why are you planning on doing if you get re-elected, Mr. Rightaway?
I: I will make the country a safer place, for our children and the next generations. Too many dangerous foreigners have been accepted in our country. We need to ban them, and recreate a national identity.
C: You really have no morals. They are human beings like you and me who fled the war, and who hope to find help here in Albomina. We should instead welcome them decently. We need to make the world a better place, not only our own borders. If you don’t change your point of view, things will get worse and worse and we will face several uprisings and even civil wars.Moderator: Today we had the chance to receive the two candidates running for the next presidential election in Albomia.
