Battle Lavoisier
- Lavoisier is celebrated as the leader of the 18th century chemical revolution and consequently one of the founders of modern chemistry.
- He studied at the same time chemistry,philosophy, botanic,law,geology and finance and he had a passion for meteorology
- He participated at the creation of the metric system
- He developed the modern system of naming the chemical substances.
- He also created the principle of the chemical equations for the chemical reactions
- French chemistry students are still taught the conservation of mass as “Lavoisier’s law” and this is indicative of his success in making this principle a foundation of modern chemistry.
- He is the one who said “ nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed”
- In 1787, Lavoisier and three colleagues published a new nomenclature of chemistry and it was soon widely accepted thanks to Lavoisier’s eminence.
- He invented himself the name “oxygen” in 1779 and the name “azote”
- Lavoisier performed a wide range of experiments on the research about the oxygen theory of combustion.
- He is the one who discovered the composition of air and water
