Part I : A / According to this article, Shakespeare was inspired by his king's obsession with witches; King James 6. On the other hand, Shakespeare decided to write a rather short play because the king had little patience. Shakespeare's play was inaugurated during a visit by the King of Denmark in 1606. This play refers to a storm that twice affected the journey of the future Queen Anne as she tried to travel to England for her wedding. As a result, there are several references to this journey in Shakespeare's play.
B / The powers witches seem to have are to control time; for in Act 1, Scene 1 the scene indicates “thunder and lightning. ” For King James, this force is seen as frightening because his ship has been damaged twice. However, this play is also frightening to the audience watching it. Indeed, the harvests and harvests depend on the weather! B / The first part of the text (lines 1-11) reminds me of Act 1, Scene 1 of Shakespeare’s play, “Macbeth. ” Indeed, a reference is made to thunder and lightning; as well as another concerning the gathering of 3 witches. Even the question: “When shall we three meet again ?” is a reference to Shakespeare’s play.
C / Magrant wants to form a clan with Nanny Ogg and Granny Weatherwax. They don't object and Nanny Ogg dances. However, Granny Weatherwax imposes certain conditions, such as the categorical refusal of dancing and singing.
D / The comparisons in this excerpt are: … .
These comparisons are used to obtain a form of substantial exaggeration. Indeed; they allow to give quite comical effects; but also to bring out and feel the mystery. However, it is not only the mystery that can be identified with these comparisons. Shivering, horror and apprehension are also sought-after effects in this excerpt.
E / The tone of the text is funny (humorous) because it uses exaggeration and rather hilarious remarks. Magrat is a character whose character is too hard to match the myths about witches (who laugh at their tricks). However, small parts of the extract break the hard mask that she maintains and wears. Especially when she draws bats
