As we all know, american presidential elections are around the corner. Even though voting day is until November 8, it has been a trending topic since the beginning of the run in January this year. We have come a long way since then. To be able to make your voice to be heard, you must register first and then you can go and decide which candidate suits better as the next american president. Then, elections will take place before announcing the winner.
Between all the candidates running for being elected as the next president, two of them are standing up as a result of the importance of their parties: Hillary Clinton who’s running for the Democratic Party and Donald Trump running for the Republican Party. Both of them are over fifty years old and both are trying to win votes from the millennial. Clinton has been really close to the presidential job for the last three decades as a senator, the first lady and as the former Secretary of State, while we haven’t seen Donald Trump interested into politics since his candidacy in 1999 but we know him as a businessman and public figure.
As we said before, this elections are special. Not only because there’s the first female candidate running for president and maybe their first female president but also because it is the first time millennials are old enough to vote. This generation will be heard for the first time and their importance to determine the winner is massive. They are so important that they are evolving the technics of each parties’ campaign. Not only by making politics appear in every platform available, like Instagram and Snapchat, but also by changing the topics and how they treat them. One of the topics that has turned really important is college education, which was really important but not as much as today. Also now has turned into an entertainment and it is spread faster than before.
To my mind, none of the two main candidates should win. Clinton isn’t trusted and Trump doesn’t have the personality of a leader. However, I believe Hillary Clinton has a bigger opportunity to win. Not only she has three decades of experience due to her multiple past functions and her former function as Secretary of State, also Trump has lost a lot of voters due to his behaviour on the past three debates. Let the best candidate win.
