Everything began with my divorce. In this society women are so criticized for our actions, I couldn’t seem weak toward the others, or I couldn’t be present in the high society. Since my divorce I lost almost all my money, I couldn’t live normally with what I was having. I needed to make a choice, and I made it; I sold my jewelry, some dresses, the silverware, and I dismissed some of my domestic.
For the moment to seem perfect I buy fake jewelry, accessories and cheap tissues at the perfect place where diamonds looked really true.
Three weeks after this special day, I received an invitation for a ball. It will be my first appearance without my husband, I needed to be perfect but not too much. At the same time a girl who was there just for my money, my reputation and my acquaintances, Loisel was his name, came to my house for jewelry, like always. I gave her a fake diamond’s necklace, she was grasping too much to see that it was a fake, and it was perfect like this, my reputation will be okay, she couldn’t say my situation to anyone. Thanks to me, she was the prettiest of the ball, flying with the highest society during this ephemeral time.
I was shocked by what I was looking at. My eyes could leave my head, it was a real diamond necklace, she gave me a diamond, so much money in my hand, I couldn’t believe it! For probably 6 hours I was looking at the jewelry, asking myself about what I will do with this, sell it, give it to Loisel, invest in something, I was confused.
Finally, I sell it and with the money I invest in a new secret project which was really lucrative and with the profit I create a dress and jewelry store.
10 years later, as pretty as before, more rich than during my previous marriage and having a child with my perfect husband, I saw Mme Loisel who talked to me about the jewelry. When I said to my poor “friend” the reality, thinking of the success that her mistake gave me, I could see the end of the world in her eyes.
