I am Yassmina Gourich an 18 years old lady, I am from the beautiful Morocco.

So as a start I will talk to you about my country, where it is situated, and the major efforts that he made concerning human rights and I will also talk about the education system here without forgetting the remarkable importance given by the Moroccan government to the women development especially nowadays. These are some of the ideas that I’ve prepared I sincerely hope that you will get my message during reading my humble report.

Morocco is a mountainous country of western north Africa, that lies across the strait of Gibraltar, and looks out on the Atlantic, Algeria is to the east and Mauritania to the south.

Morocco is an Islamic kingdom, ruled by his majesty the king Mohammed 6 besides the language spoken which is Arabic, Moroccan people can also speak French as the first language and Spanish too due to both French and Spanish colonization during the 17 and 18 centuries.

Morocco after independence is so different from the ancient Morocco because it has shown improvement in many ways as economy for example, Morocco was changed from being an underdeveloped country to be considered among developing countries.

As long as there is no development without a change; Morocco has known a lot of positive changes due to the help of many national and international organizations, wither IGOs or NGOs.

Human rights! What a big word I should admit! a word that humanity fought and still fighting to get it, a word which made countries become what they are now! It gave the human being its worth.

No one can deny that Morocco was a poor country ruled by tribes policy, so the situation was of course very bad and there was no respect for the human rights.

People suffered from political repression. They didn’t have the right to get involved in the political life and weren’t allowed to express their point of views. In fact, they were deprived from their natural rights; some of them were even sent to jail and punished for some political reasons, using repressive laws and unfair trials.

When Morocco has become a kingdom a lot of things have been changed and a lot of reformations have been done to improve Morocco’s situation.

The Moroccan government applies human rights; as a result, the kingdom becomes a member of the United Nations.

A lot of rights have been given including the right to vote, the right to live and work and

The natural right’s list goes on.

The compulsory of education helps people be active citizens. Therefore, Moroccan authorities have won admiration abroad for positive actions and tolerance.

Education is the only solution and cure to all political and social diseases. Therefore, Moroccan Government spends one-fifth of its budget to education. Much of this is spent on building schools to fit the rapidly growing population.

The education system consists of pre-school, primary school, secondary school and higher education. The students have to go through 9 years of basic education followed by three years of secondary education. The language of instruction is Arabic. French is also used as the medium of instruction in the technical courses or in the secondary levels. French is usually introduced in the third grade. After nine years' basic education, students enter upper secondary education where they enroll into a one- year common core classes followed by the two-years of baccalaureate

The admission to postsecondary institutions is open to baccalaureate holders and many schools and faculties require that students also pass an entrance examination. Some of these institutions are private whereas the others are public.

The education system is regulated by the Ministry of National Education and Ministry of Higher Education and Executive Training.

In 1960, the basic education in Morocco was made free and compulsory. As a result many students enrolled themselves in the schools. But where Higher education is concerned slightly half the students go for secondary education. Morocco Universities are the seats of higher education and academic excellence in Morocco. These universities offer a range of disciplines from arts, science and commerce
