Martin Luther King en anglais

I will talk about Martin Luther King because according to me he is a great man in history.

Martin Luther King was born in 1929 and he died in 1968.

First of all he was an American clergyman activist and prominent leader in the African-American civil right movement. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights in the United States and around the world, using non violent methods following the teaching of Mahatma Gandhi. Martin Luther King has become a national icon in the history of modern American liberalism.

Then in 1964, Martin Luther King became the youngest person to receive the Nobel peace prize for his work to end racial segregation and racial discrimination through civil disobedience and other non violent means. By the time of his death in 1968, he had refocused his efforts on ending poverty and stopping the Vietnam War.

“I have a dream” is a 17-minute public speech by Martin Luther King, delivered in 1963 in which he called for racial equality and an end to discrimination. The speech, from the steps of the Lincoln memorial during the march on Washington for jobs and freedom, was a defining moment of the American civil rights movement. Delivered to over 200 000 civil rights supporters, the speech was ranked the top American speech of the 20th century by a 1999 poll of scholars of public address. By speaking the way he did, he educated, he inspired, and he informed not just the people there, but people throughout America and unborn generation.

Martin Luther King was assassinated on April 4 1968, in Tennessee. After emergency chest surgery, Martin Luther King was pronounced dead at Saint Joseph’s hospital. Martin Luther King’s autopsy revealed that though only 39 years old, he had the heart of a 60 years old man, perhaps a result of the stress of 13 years in the civil right movement.

Anyway even after his death he remains as one of the noblest men in history.
