• "Places" could be important buildings or institutions that represent a certain form of power, for example Buckingham Palace – a symbol of the British monarchy, the White – a symbol of the American presidency.

• A place can also be a country or a state - for example the USA is a state which is powerful enough to influence events throughout the world (superpower) and China is a major economic power in today’s world. What exactly is power?

• It is the ability to control others, events, or resources; the ability to make things happen despite obstacles, resistance, or opposition. This of course leads to conflict between those who have power and those who don’t.

• In the film « My sister's Keeper » by Nick Cassavetes in 2009, we learn the story of Anna conceived by means of in vitro fertilization, she was brought into the world to be a genetic match for her older sister, Kate , who suffers from acute leukemia. Because of her sister's dependency on her, Anna is unable to live the life she wants; in and out of the hospital constantly, she cannot take part in activities such as cheerleading or soccer. One day her sister needs an of her kidneys but Anna refused and called a lawyer (photo) to be emancipated.

• Her parents are against this decision and pretend that Anna is too young for understand, and when she's back home they put pressure on her to change her mind. Maybe this document can enter in link with this notion because the pressure that Anna's parents have on her is a form of power, this film allows us to consider the question: where stops the power of a parent on his child ?

• In the second document we see in the beginning the same power that in the first document, the power of parents on their child. Sarrita a indian girl is married with a man that was 15 years her senior. She tell them that she wasn't keen on marriage and that she would instead like to pursue higher studies and become teacher. But they refused. The appearance of this excerpt from the text that interest me is the fact that once again the power of parents but also of the place: India. India is a country full of tradition so it is a place of power where tradition predominates on the wish of girl.
