L'article The Economist de janvier 2012, ainsi que le graphique crée d'après ESOP statistics de mars 2012, parle des salariés qui possèdent des actions dans les entreprises anglaise.

John Lewis au Royaume Uni est cité comme un exemple pour la mise en place de son plan d'actionnariat salarié . Cette incitation permet d'accroître le développement de la loyauté ainsi que l'implication au travail. Cela engendre une croissance, ce qui a pour effet une constante augmentation des bénéfices. On peut voir à l'aide du graphique la valeur de ce type d'entreprise qui est trois fois supérieur à celle d'entreprises cotées en bourse. Mais cela reste très rare car ce type de plan peut engendrer des risques pour l'entreprise.

Except through financial incentives, how can firms motivate their staff ?

There are several motivational factors with in a compagny, other than financial. Culture and business plan, this is one of the elements that will allow employees to invest in the compagny. Labor conditions, able to work in a beautiful places or even have flexible work time promote employees investment and the developpement of professional skills enables employees to feel more useful in the compagny. All of this factors promote employees investment inside the compagny.
