WHY SHOULD YOU VISIT NEW YORK

New York is the most populous city in the United States since 1790 and welcomes more than 50 million visitors each year. New York City is known for its various attractions. Here are some reasons why you should visit New York City at least once in your life: Manhattan, food and shopping.

Firstly, Manhattan is the heart of New York. The island is full of beautiful places to visit starting with Central Park. Central Park is a green space with an area of 341 hectares, the ultimate urban oasis. The maintenance of this park is absolutely faultless and you can walk, run and bicycle while admiring the exceptional beauty of this park surrounded by huge skyscrapers. It’s also possible to rent a rowboat or a gondola and row your way to the heart of the Central Park Lake. Then, it is impossible to visit New York without passing through Times Square, the heart of the city. Times Square is a major commercial intersection and neighborhood in Midtown Manhattan. Brightly adorned with billboards and advertisements, Times Square is referred to as The Crossroads of the World. It is one of the world's busiest pedestrian intersections and one of the world's most visited attractions. A visit to the Empire State Building is also a must-do activity in New York. The building has 102 floors to which it is possible to admire the landscape of the city from the tallest skyscraper in Manhattan. There are many other activities to do during a visit to New York such as cruising the Statue of Liberty, visiting the ethnic neighborhoods like Chinatown and Little Italy, crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, shopping on 5th Avenue and of course, visiting Ground Zero, a memorial of the World Trade Center attacks of September 11, 2001.

Secondly, from fine dining to street vendors, New York has a huge range of food options to choose from. The many cultures that make up the city offer tastes from all around the world, satisfying any craving at any time of day. And don’t leave without a popular New York cheesecake! New York City instituted a strict grading policy assessing restaurants for cleanliness and food safety. Each restaurant has a grade: A, B or C. Please, don’t go to a restaurant that has a C grade.

Finally, the variety of stores in New York is famous. From Prada to knock-offs sold on the side of the street, you will find what you are looking for. Fifth Avenue is a major thoroughfare of Manhattan, one of the most renowned and famous avenues in the world.

The section between 34th Street and 59th Street is known for its most famous luxury stores of the world (Tiffany & Co, Prada, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Armani, Gucci and more). Fifth Avenue is where wealthy New Yorkers do their shopping.  For a less expensive shopping, Woodbury Common is one of the best outlets in New York. The mall has 220 stores and is located just outside of Manhattan.

Another excellent option is Chinatown. It is possible to negotiate the stuff. However, be careful! Most stuff is fake, so don’t pay the full price of the brand. Also, from soup to nuts, wine to coffee, cheese to cheesecake, Chelsea Market is the place for you.

To conclude, Manhattan, food and shopping are the must-do attractions in New York and these are excellent reasons to visit the “city that never sleeps”. New York is a beautiful city that everyone should visit. There are so many things to do and places to visit that one trip to NYC will not be enough.
